If you had a million dollars... What would you do? And why?

I'd share with my family and friends, and invest some to make more money! Send the kids to college, too!

If I won a million dollars somehow, the first thing I would do would be to pay off all our debt...including student loans. Then I would buy a nice, but not extravagent home, and put away a large amount for my kids' college and our retirement.

A little bit of everything. Why? Because God has been so good to me

I'd buy a B&B in Costa Rica and live there with my family

Only a million? Jeeze after taxes there's not much left.

Uh this sounds like something I did a week ago.
But I sure don't have that million coming my way anytime soon. I hope you have a paten on that item of yours. Are you are in trouble. Cause someone will steal it away!

well I tell you what I would do with a million dollars. I would get my business off the ground first. Then I would pay off my house, my friends homes, get a decent new truck and boat for me, and a van for the wife. I would put the rest up in savings for my kids, so they could have a shot at a future that was no where near as hard as my own life.

pay off my sister's house for her, help some of my good friends,buy myself a house, put back $50,000 for my daughter's education, buy my daughter a new car and give her $5000 in a special account reserved only for gas or schoolbooks. Me and my mom and sister and niece and nephew would go on a big shopping spree to Opry Mills mall in Nashville Tennessee......I would also pay off all my debts and donate some to the church and I would buy 19 cats and 16 dogs......lol just kidding but seriously I would like 2 more dogs and some cats......donate money to the local animal shelter

I would form my own record label, I would have a really interesting house built, things that every home needs like the basics of course and I would have a Nuclear Fallout shelter around.

I would add some things to the interesting house for fun such as Recording Studio, Film Studio, a hyper room, and a couple of Jail cells (but I would never put my future kids in those against their will), and i'd probably find other bizarre things to do.

I would also buy a Scottish Noble title, why Scottish? well that's because Scottish titles are the only European Noble titles that legally are allowed to be sold as the old feudalism laws of Europe regarding Nobled titles continued to exist in Scotland even after the 1707 Act of Union that merged England and Scotland into The United Kingdom.

I would also open up a couple of charities, one fo them being a Christian charity and the other being an Autism charity.

The Autism charity would be one that listens to Autistic people rather than behaving like Cure Autism Now and other ignorant groups that claim to support Autism research but seem hell-bent on treating Autism like it's the Bubonic Plague.

I would also do all sorts of investments to have me set for life, and I would donate some money to my Church as well.

pay off the bills, give my daughters money to pay off their college loans, let my spouse fix up the house to his heart's content, while I travel! :)

Pay off bills, but a decent used car, plant some flowers around my house, pay for my son's college, give to my church...and then invest and save.

Like most other commenters, pay off bills/debt. Then, probably, buy a place to live. I'd put aside money for future medical bills & for our child. Then, it would probably be all gone. Don't know how or where I'd get the million, can't even get a grand around here! LOL

I forgot to state why! Because I/we have lots of bills! Simple as that. We are wasting money renting. I have health problems & will need the money down the road. Our child would, hopefully, like an education & things......

Pay off bills, tithe, and invest most.

I would pay off bills (16k in student loans, couple thousand in misc. medical bills), take my whole family on a huge vacation, and buy a house.

Oh, wait, what about college? I guess I'd use it for Morgan's college. That would probably take all of it :)

I would pay off old bills, buy a nice house, help my family out, and invest the rest....or should I say save the rest .

I would first get the attorney for James, buy a new home and car, start savings account for James and add a big chunck to Nicholas and Megans accounts, get 501c for the foundation put a chunck in a savings for our family the rest would go into the foundation.

I've had this dream many times. I would finish my house, payoff all my debts & my kids debts, divide the rest into the grandkids college savings. A million wouldn't go very far in a family as big as mine.

I would pay off all our debt, invest a good amount of it, and set aside around $35K to live off for a year so my hubby could quit his job while he finished school. We would be living pretty good on that much! Oh yeah, I would also get my hubby a new hybrid car since his car is a bit of a junker....

I would pay off all debts, then give some to family and friends, put away money for our son's college education, then build a log home for us, and put the rest away in investments to build more money.

I would move back to Ohio to be around my family. I was happy in Ohio.

I think I answered one like this last week, but I'll answer it again. I would buy my hubby the truck he's always wanted, buy a laptop for my daughter, buy airfare for my friend, Rebecca and her family and get her here with me, hire a contractor to build my dream house in the country, buy my mom a new double wide mobile home, get Rebecca the best doctors money can buy, save some of the money for my grandkids' college education, travel and I guess that's it.

hmmm...Pay off bills first. Then, I would invest for our retirement. However, I would also look into properties. I have an idea but it would take a community. A community of change that would hopefully grow.

Donate some to the vets.

Not sure what I would do, get and stay out of debt for sure.

I would invest most of it, use some to pay for the kid's colleges and donate some to a worthwhile charity. Whatever is left over I would use to enjoy with my family. Good luck.

I would retire and live on the lake for the rest of my life

I would buy health insurance for my father, father-in-law, and grandparents, fix up their homes, then invest the rest on my own behalf to supplement my retirement.
