The New Mc. Donalds Dollar Menu .... Slicing Less Cheese.... Hilarious and true!

I'm not sure how many of Gather members eat at Mc. Donalds, but I saw an article on AOL news about the New Mc. Donalds Dollar Menu. I have a bad habit about stopping and getting a cheap bite to eat. Who doesn't splurge a little? eh?

I think its ridiculous how the famous Double Cheeseburger will be slightly highered to $1.19 and now, they're introducing a new type of Double Cheeseburger which will be called the McDouble which consist of two beef patties and one slice of cheese. That's right! Did you hear that? One slice of cheese! Can you absolutely believe Mc. Donalds is going to be that greedy about their cheese? Laughs.... You know what they blame this on? Its been said due to the rising costs of meat. One way or another, we get higher prices. Go figure!

I have a New Year resolution of losing weight, so I probably won't be sliding by so many double cheeseburgers, but every now and then, if I splurge, I will most likely get a salad or sundae instead, but of course, I will burn those extra calories off.

I probably won't be stopping at Mc. Donalds as much and will most likely, enjoy Taco Bell or Wendy's more often for their low prices. Of course, I hear spicy foods help increase the metabolism and help in losing weight. So, who knows? I guess its worth a try, huh?

What do YOU think about this Mc. Donalds ordeal and slicing less cheese? Laughs....

~ This is suppose to become effective on December 1st ~ Make sure you buy all the cheesey burgers before then! hahahaha

They'll market it as having less fat than the regular version
McDonalds is revamping the Double Cheeseburger in various venues, it won't be the same all over. They're testing what the customers will like, and what they won't. In some places, they're removing the cheese and calling it a double burger. Some, they're adding more beef, less cheese. Some they're using smaller slices of cheese, etc.

I dont eat at McDonald's, but I would think they would blame the higher price on the rising cost of dairy. Have you seen how much cheese has gone up?! Twenty cents is a steal per slice, considering 12 slices at the store is going to run around $3.50

I have only had McDonalds about 3 times in 6 years. It's not that I don't like them, it's just they are to far away from the town we live in. When we get to the big town, lol, I have my mind set on shopping at the big grocery stores. So I won't miss McDonalds cheese. I will miss lower super market cheese prices though =)

When I worked at DQ we used to charge 40 cents just for a piece of cheese. Its common for them to charge extra for that dang slice of cheese.

I think they are cheap and will most likely advertise it as being a bit lower in fat because it is one less slice of cheese (if you want to call it cheese - more like cheese food).

Considering how cheap you can buy a huge box of American Cheese at Costco, I would think that it is cheap for them to buy in huge amounts so I can't see why they would cheapen the sandwich and lessen the amt of cheese. So stupid. I haven't eaten at McD's in almost a year. Last year I had an urge for the new Angus Burger at McD's for my birthday so my husband went and bought me an Angus Burger and fries. The burger was overcooked (I hate well-done meat) and the fries were great. At least one thing was good. My son loved his but he doesn't care if it is overcooked or not.
Do yourself and favor and stay away from McD's. Their food is crap no matter how much cheese-like substance is on it.

I think it's a tough economy and they have to make a profit, too. Where else can you buy a burger for around $1.19 anyway? I can feed myself and the four older kids there for just under $13. I cannot do that anywhere else.

Yeah, they'll be able to market it to those who want to cut down a few of the calories....but when you're eating fast food, that seems kind of contradictory anyway. Regardless, it doesn't bother me any nor will it change my occasional stop by the dollar menu.

Order a double cheese, without cheese, and they go nuts. IMPOSSIBLE! The registers are not programmed to sell only a double hamburger, no cheese. That 19 cents isn't for the cheese, its the cost to change all their signs.

I stop at mcdonalds a couple times a week. I didn't know they were raising the prices....I LOVE Taco Bell...that's my favorite!

If it's the rising cost of meat.... why are the cutting the cheese out?

I'm not really a McDonalds fan anyway- Taco Bell tastes better and is cheaper.

The only time we ever eat at McDonald's is when Elliott gets to choose where we eat and we are downtown anyway. Even still I almost always get chicken, so this won't make much difference to my family. We notice changes at Taco Bell and Burger King more, since we eat at each of them about once a month.

While the cost of one slice of cheese may not be much, when you think about how many slices a day that would save, it becomes big money in a month or year. I remember reading once about a place that cut out one olive saving $80,000 the next year.

Well, it looks like I will be eating of Wendy's dollar menu than. That the only other fast food resturant in the nearest town near me. Unless I want to go in to the big city.

I bet there will alot of complaints about less cheese on the sandwiches. McDonlads needs to leave those sandwiches alone. They sell good enough already. Do they want to lose customers?
Okay, I had to go in to McDonalds tonight to see what was listed on their menu.
The double cheeseburger is already listed as $1.19 in my area. But you can the McDouble for 99 cents or a chicken sandwhich.

okay my take on this, only because it doesnt affect me.... lol if I hit McD's it is a regular cheeseburger, thats it! I would rather a JBC (jr bacon cheeseburger) from Wendy's or a cheesy stuffed burrito from Taco Bell, either way I am a cheap date - about 2 bucks... lol

Also I went the other day and they took the 4 piece nugget off the Dollar Menu. What a rip off!
